One of North America’s fastest-growing and leading producers of aluminium billet and slab, Matalco, announced the completion of its new facility in Franklin, Kentucky. The new facility began operations in December 2022 and is known for producing aluminium ingot slabs from secondary aluminium.
With a capacity to manufacture 135,000 tonnes annually, the new factory was built by Matalco for around $65 million. According to Matalco, the business is considering purchasing more machinery to increase the yearly capacity to 176,000 tonnes. Matalco is an independent secondary aluminium billet maker with its corporate headquarters in Brampton, Ontario.
Furthermore, the Ontario-based aluminium billet manufacturer claimed that it sourced secondary aluminium from Triple M Metal and its current clientele for this location. The Brampton-based Giampaolo Group Inc., which owns Triple M Metal, has Matalco in its portfolio.
“With a lack of green solutions in the market pertaining to aluminum ingot slab, this Franklin, Kentucky, site is able to fill that gap,” said Matalco.
By establishing this new location, Matalco assured that it will be able to better serve the local automotive industry and value chain. It also plans to enhance this plant and boost its capabilities by installing a second aluminium furnace. The business continues by saying that the new location expands its geographic reach and helps it better serve its clients.
“There is a thriving aluminum sector in the Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama corridor that Matalco is now able to take part in while offering better services to our customers in the Southeastern states. Matalco will continue growing by following our long-term strategic growth plan. We are committed to servicing our customers better and committed to providing made-in-North America solutions to the world of aluminum production,” added Matalco.
