According to official statistics, the US imported 734,000 tons of bauxite in the second quarter of this year, rising by 5.61% compared to the previous quarter and also hiking by 103.32% from the same period a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Jamaica accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 633,000 tons, a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 1% and a year-on-year drop of 13%. Turkey ranked second with 75,500 tons, up by 33.63% quarter on quarter.
In the first half of this year, the US’ bauxite imports amounted to 1.43 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 99.16%, of which 1.27 million tons were from Jamaica.
