Alcoa said that the formal negotiation had ended on September 28, but both sides didn’t reach an agreement. According to Spanish law, Alcoa has to make a decision for the annual production capacity of 228,000 tons at the San Ciprian aluminum refinery within 15 days.
As previously reported, Alcoa has proposed in June to reduce the scale of the San Ciprian aluminum refinery and only remain part of operations at the site’s casthouse, in order to prevent continuous losses at the refinery.
