The US had planned to re-impose tariffs on Canadian aluminum imports. The beer manufacturers considered that the tariffs on Canadian aluminum will increase the packaged costs.
Last Thursday (June 25), Jim McGreevy, chief executive of the Beer Institute, together with executives from the American Beverage Association, the Aluminum Association, and the Can Manufacturers Institute, expressed their disagreement about tariffs or quotas on aluminum imports from Canada.
There were more than 60% of American beers packaged in aluminum cans or bottles. Re-imposing tariffs on Canadian aluminum will influence the supply chain and beer market in the US.
