It was reported that case of Novelis’ US$2.6 billion acquisition of Aleris has obtained the approvals from the antitrust division on the US Department of Justice (DOJ) under the condition that Novelis must sell all Aleris' aluminum body panel business in North America in order to maintain fair competition in the industry.
These divested businesses included Aleris’ aluminum facility in Lewisport, Kentucky.
According to Steve Fisher, president and CEO of Novelis, Novelis will continue to push the proposed acquisition of Aleris.
