Bauxite Plant Now Features Solar Shingles

Sun City Energy recently installed one of the first integrated solar shingle roofing systems in the region on the new Saint-Gobain manufacturing facility at Bauxite in Saline County, according to Sun City President and CEO Pam Speraw.

Saint-Gobain is the parent company of CertainTeed, which manufactures the Apollo Solar Shingle Roofing System. Sun City Solar Energy, a member of the Arkansas Advanced Energy Association and licensed for both commercial and residential work, was selected to install the system.

Speraw said the solar cells were designed to capture and convert more solar energy per square foot than other solar energy systems.
