Kaiser Aluminum Corp. ( KALU ) reported net income for the first quarter of $34 million or $1.73 per share, compared to $27 million or $1.38 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted net income for the first quarter was $20 million or $1.03 per share, compared to $21 million or $1.09 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Net sales for the latest first quarter fell to $337.4 million from $365.4 million a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.87 per share on revenue of $347.26 million for the first quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
