CLEVELAND, OH - November 1, 2011 - Aleris named John Zhu president of Aleris China, effective today. Zhu is responsible for directing Aleris' Rolled Products and Extrusions operations in China, and developing and executing the growth strategy for all Aleris businesses across the region.

"He brings more than 25 years of experience in successfully growing businesses in China, which is a critical part of our growth strategy. John will be responsible for developing and managing all aspects of our expanding footprint in the region."
Zhu was most recently China president for Wartsila, a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets, where he led its China operations since 2008, including strategy development and its production expansion in the region. Prior to that, he was China Country Manager for Eaton's Truck Group where he directed strategy and centralized operations. He also led the overall business development strategy in China for Tenneco Automotive with multiple joint-venture operations.
He received an MBA from Eastern Michigan University, and holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, and a Diploma in International Business from the Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade University in China.
