The city of Oxnard issued the following news release:Join the City of Oxnard in celebration of the Del Norte Regional Recycling and Transfer Station's fifteenth anniversary as we reduce, reuse and recycle our way to a cleaner, more eco-friendly tomorrow. In honor of the event, the Del Norte recycling center will be offering a special aluminum can recycling rate of $1.75 per pound for the entire month of August.
Since opening its doors to the public in August, 1996, the Del Norte Regional Recycling and Transfer Station has literally recycled tons of material. Last year alone, almost 500 tons of aluminum cans were recycled. While this year's anniversary celebration spotlights aluminum can recycling, Del Norte is responsible for processing many other recyclables including plastic and glass bottles, newspapers, cardboard, and yard waste. There is even a special program for Oxnard residents to recycle electronic waste, or "E-Waste", such as computers, monitors, TVs, cell phones and microwave ovens. To participate in the E-Waste recycling program, residents must show proof of Oxnard residency.
Recycling diverts material that would otherwise end up in the landfill, conserves energy and helps protect our natural resources. You can help make a difference by participating in Del Norte Regional Recycling and Transfer Station's fifteenth anniversary celebration: during the month of August, get $1.75 per pound for aluminum can recycling at Del Norte's recycling buy-back center, 111 S. Del Norte Boulevard, Oxnard. The buy-back center is open Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 4 pm and located on Del Norte Boulevard between Sturgis Road and Fifth Street.
