Union leaders have announced a tentative contract agreement for workers an Ohio aluminum plant that went through a long strike five years ago.
United Steelworkers representative John Puskar (PUSH'-kahr) tells news outlets the union planned to provide members with details of the deal with Ormet (OHR'-meht) Corp. during meetings Tuesday. Workers would vote throughout the day on the agreement, reached Monday.
Nearly 900 union employees work at the Ormet plant in Hannibal, in eastern Ohio just across the Ohio River from West Virginia. Ormet also is headquartered there.
The plant was shuttered for about a year and a-half when workers staged a strike in 2006.
Last week, union members voted down a five-year contract offer. Puskar had said the workers had concerns about pensions and other issues.
