AP reported that aluminum manufacturing giant Alcoa Inc spent USD 610,000 in the third quarter to lobby the government on issues ranging from cap and trade to defense appropriations, according to a recent disclosure report.
The total compared with USD 380,000 that the Pittsburgh company spent in the year-ago quarter and USD 680,000 it spent in the second quarter.
From July to September, Alcoa lobbied on cap and trade issues, including allocation credit for early action and international trade implications. Other issues included defense appropriations issues related to the naval and air programs, international taxes and hydroelectric generating facilities.
According to the October 12 report filed with the House clerk's office, in addition to the House of Representatives and the Senate, Alcoa lobbied the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
