Aluminum producer Ormet Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio, has announced plans to restart two idled potlines at its smelting facility. Preparations for the the restart are expected to begin immediately and last through next spring, bringing the smelter to full production capacity.
The Monroe County industry says the increased capacity will require the hiring of at least 100 positions, which will be filled through the recall of laid-off employees and new hires.
Ormet president and CEO Mike Tanchuk says the restart should produce an additional 80,000 metric tonnes of metal in 2011.
