Alcoa launches a ‘download to donate’ initiative

coa Foundation launched a ‘download to donate’ initiative, where the company will donate one dollar to Keep America Beautiful when the Aluminate application is downloaded.

This will take effect from America Recycles Day November 15 and will end on January 23 2011.

The funding will strengthen Keep America Beautiful’s environmental education programs and recycling infrastructure.

The free Aluminate application encourages consumers to recycle aluminum cans using an application that monitors the progress.

“Recycling is a simple action to take, but it has a huge impact on our collective energy use. Recycling just one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television for nearly two hours,” says Alcoa Foundation President Paula Davis.

“America Recycles Day is a great opportunity for us to generate awareness about recycling and, we hope, encourage more people to take that one extra step.”
