The Aluminum Association’s Building and Construction Committee continues to show how aluminum is driving the green building industry. The Association will exhibit at METALCON International 2010 October 20th to 22nd 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Aluminum is durable, corrosion resistant, incredibly versatile and infinitely recyclable making it the material of choice for green builders. In fact, today companies are working harder than ever to be more environmentally conscious. Building with aluminum in the form of flat rolled products or extrusions, allows companies to put metal where they want it, simplifying connections and saving other valuable resources. Aluminum can also be anodized and painted in myriad colors, lasting decades in adverse weather conditions.
The recycled content of aluminum flat-rolled products in the US building market is estimated at 85% and 60% of which is from post consumer sources. The aluminum industry wants every pound of aluminum back from demolished buildings so that it can be recycled and reintroduced in the aluminum metal stream.
Aluminum building products are made from alloys that are weather proof, corrosion resistant and immune to the harmful effects of UV rays. In fact, lightweight aluminum allows architects freedom to construct buildings with greater stability meeting required performance specifications, while minimizing expenditure on foundations. These are just some of the many benefits of building with aluminum.
Mr Chuck Johnson the Aluminum Association’s director of Environment, Health & Safety will be on site to promote this information and more at METALCON, booth 1266. METALCON is the only annual tradeshow and conference focused on the application of metal in residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and municipal construction.
The event will feature more than 8,000 professionals. Architects, engineers, metal building, residential and roofing contractors, developers, fabricators and building owners from the United States and over 50 countries attend METALCON. The 3 day event also includes educational programs with green building topics to serve the growing interest in metal’s key role in improving energy efficiency in buildings.
