DAVENPORT, Iowa - The ship could be a big boost for a Davenport business.

Alcoa-Davenport Works has won contract to supply the aluminum for building these ships, which are primarily made of aluminum.

According to the Quad City Times, the contract is with an Australian company, but it all hinges on whether the shipping company lands a government contract. The contract is to build 55 close to shore ships.

That could also mean more jobs for Alcoa. The contract would last through 2014
