Midwest Aluminum in Withee notified the Department of Workforce Development that it would close its facility on July 26th.
Newsline 9 and other media outlets across Wisconsin received that notice from the state.
After hearing that report, the company President showed up at Newsline 9 and says the employees will stay on.
Craig Kowatch says he wants to sell Midwest Aluminum and chose an attorney who secured a stalking horse bid. That's a bid on a bankrupt company that sets the bar for other bidding.
July 27th is the deadline.
He says this is the best option to get their creditors paid and preserve jobs.
The company employs 55 people and makes extruded aluminum products like tubes and pipes.
