JUST IN: Thakar Aluminum closing doors, laying off 20

After more than a year of winding down production, Thakar Aluminium will close its doors Friday, resulting in 20 jobs lost.

The company is in default on its bank loans and is in receivership, documents show.

The Sandusky plant, 1364 Olds St., laid off five production associates in October 2008 after reducing its operations from seven days a week to fewer than five. Thakar Aluminum has also operated a plant in Canton since 2003.
