ALCOA says it will hold a webinar on 14 April 2010, at noon EDT, which will look at how aluminium is suited for marine defence applications.
According to Alcoa, the webinar will educate the military and shipbuilding community on recent advances in aluminium ship materials, design and manufacturing methods.
The webinar will feature Brett Conner, segment leader for Alcoa Defense's sea systems research and development, who will discuss how aluminium performs in marine environments and the ways in which Alcoa Defense assists the U.S. Navy and others to build aluminium ships.
Derek Novak, vice president of engineering for ABS, will provide an overview of ABS and discuss how ABS develops rules for aluminium ships in naval environments.
