MANITOWOC — Members of Local 301 of Glass, Molders, Pottery International Union continued to picket Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Tuesday morning after their contract expired at midnight Sunday.
The picketing began on Monday.
GMP local union shop chairman Cory Nimmer, a molder-coremaker at the foundry for 14 years, said the principal unresolved issue is a so-called “successor clause.”
Union members want any potential new owners to be required to honor future union contracts, including pay and benefits.
Nimmer said the local at the foundry has 38 members with about 10 on layoff.
Nimmer said about 150 members of Local 125 of United Steelworkers are expected to honor GMP’s picket line.
"We’ll sit down with (company management) anytime they are ready,” Nimmer said.
On Monday afternoon a receptionist for WAF said officials were in meetings and unavailable for comment.
