Washington (Platts) The September US net new aluminum order index fell 10% from August and 6.2% from September 2005, according to the Aluminum Association's orders report with all segments posting decreases from August.
The association's non-seasonally adjusted index is based on reports by 19 participants of new orders (less cancellations) received for the previous month. The association's new orders index for September stood at 110.21, down from 120.40 in August and from 117.45 in September 2005.
September orders of extruded products fell 15.3% from August and 9% from September 2005. Year to date, orders rose 5.9%.
September orders of sheet and plate fell 14% from August and 11.2% from September 2005. Year to date, orders rose 6%.
September orders of US can stock, excluding orders from Canadian mills, deceased 1.8% from August but rose 0.3% from September 2005. Year to date, orders rose 2.3%.
September orders of foil fell 4.6% from August and 2% from September 2005. Year to date, orders rose 4.2%.
