Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Global Aluminum, or EGA, will build its first and the biggest aluminum recycling plant of its kind in the UAE, with an accumulated production capacity of 150,000 tons annually.
“End users of aluminum — from auto manufacturers to beverage makers — are increasingly committing to net zero in response to the expectations of society,” WAM reported, citing Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA.
Accordingly, the facility will work on transforming aluminum scrap such as window frames, as well as scrap from extrusion production into low carbon, high quality aluminum billets.
The UAE and the surrounding region will act as the sources of the aluminum scrap to be processed in the plant.
EGA aims to market the recycled aluminum under the product name of “EternAL”, the statement disclosed.
Production in the plant is projected to commence in 2024, the company revealed.
