Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC (EGA), the largest premium aluminum producer based in the UAE, announced on July 13 that it has launched the second phase of the expansion project at its Al Taweelah aluminum smelter in Abu Dhabi.
After the expansion of adding 26 new reduction cells to Potline 2, the annual production capacity will be increased by 30,000 tons. EGA said the third phase of the expansion project will be started later this year.
Like all expansions at EGA’s aluminum production lines since the 1990s, this expansion project used EGA's own-developed technology. Both DX technology used in Potlines 1 and 2 and DX+ Ultra technology used in Potline 3 are among the most energy-efficient technologies in the world.
