Emirates Aluminium (Emal) partnered with Al Rahba Police force to provide two awareness training sessions for contractors addressing topics of safety, security and traffic management.
The first of the two safety sessions was directed to the labourers who live in the Emal labor camp. The second dealt with heavy and light duty traffic management for drivers and personnel who manage the traffic of Emal.
"At Emal we take the safety of people very seriously," said Saeed Al Mazrooei, President and CEO of Emal. "Our safety record during the construction of this smelter is nothing short of remarkable, but it didn't happen because we were lucky - we implemented measures and offered training that protected workers from harm. Our responsibility now is to continue taking measures to protect them."
Worldwide, the greatest cause of injury in aluminium smelters results from traffic accidents. The ongoing vehicular training sessions offered by Emal are a direct response to combating this issue proactively.
Proper and safe driving practices amongst Emal's employees and contractors are a priority on the company's safety list that goes above and beyond the industry's highest standards.
To ensure that road safety is properly understood, adhered to, and practiced, Al Rahba police gave the training sessions in Arabic and Urdu.
