UAE's industrial flagship will leverage multi-pronged involvement to promote proprietary technology developments to major global players at CRU 2010.
Dubai, one of the world's largest single-site producers of primary aluminium and the UAE's industrial flagship, has chosen to maximise the opportunities presented by the Commodity Research Unit's 15th World Aluminium Conference ("CRU 2010") to promote its latest technological innovation. Held this year at Radisson Blu Plaza, Oslo, Norway, from 21 to 23 June, the annual CRU World Aluminium Conferences are widely acknowledged as 'the world's authoritative aluminium events for senior executives', and consistently attract senior executives from the aluminium industry across the world.
This makes CRU 2010 an ideal platform for sharing technology-related information with a broad audience representing diverse stakeholder groups. With this in mind, Dubai Aluminium Company will focus its corporate and marketing communications efforts at CRU 2010 on the company's in-house developed, proprietary DX Reduction Cell Technology. Two major areas of activity are planned:
1. Ali H A Mohamed Al Zarouni (Vice President: Smelter Operations) will deliver a paper entitled "DX Reduction Cell Technology -- Excellent operating efficiency and superior environmental performance", which will detail the proven capacity of the technology to operate at higher amperages, with associated business, operating and environmental benefits. Already operating at industrial scale at Dubai Aluminium Company's Jebel Ali smelter, DX Reduction Cell Technology has been licensed to Emirates Aluminium Company Limited ("Emal")for its green-field smelter in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi. Commissioning of the 756-cell EMAL Phase 1 project commenced in December 2009.
2. Dubai Aluminium Company will host a luncheon for all CRU 2010 delegates on Tuesday 22 June 2010
Abdulla Kalban advises that Dubai Aluminium Company 's primary objective in participating at CRU 2010 is to raise and sustain awareness in the industry that Dubai Aluminium Company
is far more than a producer of primary aluminium. "Our company has expanded sustainably over the past 30 years through a combination of continuous improvements to our processes and brown-field expansions using the latest technologies available. Having developed our own, saleable technology, the time has now come for us to tell the world what we have to offer," he says.
Kalban adds that Dubai Aluminium Company has a long-standing, mutually beneficial relationship with Commodity Research Unit ("CRU"). The company subscribes to CRU's industry analysis services, and Dubai Aluminium Company personnel have attended (and in most years addressed) the annual CRU World Aluminium Conferences. Moreover, Dubai Aluminium Company
co-hosted CRU 2009 in Dubai an event that shone the global spotlight on the Middle East as an aluminium industry hub of growing importance. "CRU 2009 was a resounding success," says Kalban. "Approximately 250 delegates from across the world gathered for the event to hear the thoughts and opinions of the high calibre, internationally acclaimed speakers who were also drawn from all corners of the globe. We expect CRU 2010 to be as successful, such that DUBALDUBALDubai Aluminium Company's objective as a participant will be fully met."
