Dubai Aluminium continues to target UAE Nationals

Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (“DUBAL”), the owner and operator of one of the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelters, participated at the Al Ain Career Fair 2010, which took place under the patronage of H H Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan (Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research) from 3 to 5 May this year. The company’s participation at the event not only signalled DUBAL’s commitment to increasing the proportional Emirati representation within the UAE workforce in general, but also supported its ongoing efforts to recruit young, talented UAE Nationals to DUBAL in particular.

"In line with the vision of H H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of DUBAL), Emiratization strategies and policies have been established in DUBAL, with the support of top management, to ensure that UAE Nationals are developed to take on challenging roles with increased responsibilities within our organization,” says Mohammed Ali Al Owais (Manager: Organisation Development). “In essence, DUBAL Human Resources department has adopted H H Sheikh Hamdan’s vision and executed various strategies and tactics to attract talented UAE Nationals, and modes to retain them. By participating in career-orientated events, we hope to entice young UAE Nationals to apply for employment at DUBAL, where they will benefit from the career growth opportunities offered by our ongoing industrial journey.”

DUBAL also participated at the three-day Ras Al Khaimah (“RAK”) Careers expo, which took place from 2 to 4 March 2010. Here, the company’s efforts to offer employment opportunities through its pre-employment course (“PEC”) programmes (particularly the smelter and craft variants) and graduate trainee programme (“GTP”) while educating the audience about DUBAL, were honoured with an appreciation trophy during the VIP dinner held during the event.

Moreover, DUBAL participated at Fujairah Career Fair 2010 that took place under the patronage of H H Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi (UAE Supreme Council Member and Rule of Fujairah) from 11 to 13 May, thereby ensuring that the company’s recruitment and Emiratization efforts reach across all the Emirates.

Acknowledged as an employer of choice in the UAE, and farther a field in the Gulf region, DUBAL is an active participant in diverse career exhibitions throughout the year – from the annual Careers Show Exhibition (“Careers UAE”) through Emirate-specific events to career/open days held at various universities and colleges across the country. These forums enable UAE Nationals in different fields of expertise to meet directly with recruiters and hiring managers from DUBAL and obtain information regarding the various training and career options available at the company. As such, each event also provides an excellent platform for raising the corporate profile of DUBAL and attracting the interest of high calibre candidates for recruitment – both of which are vital ingredients given that DUBAL continues to hire.
