DUBAI, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Dubai Aluminium Co (Dubal) raised output of cast aluminium products to over 1 million tonnes in 2009, up 6.5 percent on the previous year, the company said in a statement on Sunday.
Dubal proceeded with expansion plans and boosted output last year even as aluminium producers in many parts of the world cut output due to the global economic slowdown.
Cast aluminium product output was 1,009,772 tonnes, with capacity at 1,271,000 tonnes. Dubal has a capacity to produce 960,000 tonnes a year of the molten metal.
Middle East producers have made only slim reductions as the cost of energy used in the production of the metal is relatively low compared with other parts of the world.
