ABU DHABI, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) is setting up a $100 million aluminium extrusion plant with Dubai's Gulf Extrusions Company, the company said on Tuesday. The plant, to be located in Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone in Taweelah, will produce 50,000 tonnes per year of aluminium extrusion and related products, ADBIC said in a statement. Construction is expected to begin in third quarter 2010. Aluminium billets and liquid aluminium will be sourced from the nearby Emirates Aluminium smelter currently under construction. "Our collaboration serves to reinforce ADBIC's focused efforts to expand the downstream manufacturing sector in Abu Dhabi. This partnership will position the UAE as a leading exporter of aluminium extrusions to international markets," ADBIC chief executive Jamal al Dhaheri said. ADBIC is wholly-owned by the Abu Dhabi government. Gulf Extrusions is part of Dubai's Al Ghurair Group. (Reporting by Stanley Carvalho; Editing by Angus MacSwan)
