UC RUSAL's total attributable aluminum output amounted to 4.123 million tonnes in 2011 as compared to 4.083 million tonnes in 2010.
Aluminum output in the Q4 of 2011 increased by 1% to 1.060 million tonnes as compared to 1.041 million tonnes in the Q3r of 2011 and by 1% as compared to 1.050 million tonnes in the Q4 of 2010 showing an overall upward trend in aluminum production during those periods. The table below shows the contribution from each facility.
The increases in volumes during each of the periods discussed above were mostly due to increased production at certain aluminum smelters in Siberia and the European part of Russia as well as KUBAL.
The Company expects production volume of primary aluminum and alloys in 2011 to remain around 100,000 tonnes higher than physical sales for the same period. UC RUSAL decided to partially shift sales of aluminium produced at the end of 2011 to 2012 revenue from these sales will be reflected in the Q1 of 2012.
UC RUSAL is currently monitoring the situation and may cut aluminum output by 6% in the next 18 months.
