World’s largest aluminum company, Russia’s Rusal said it is considering producing bauxites and alumina in West Africa’s Cameroon.
In a statement issued here, Rusal said Cameroon is of great interest to the company as it has significant reserves of bauxite - the main raw material for the production of alumina and aluminum.
The country is characterized by political stability and a favorable investment climate, which is especially important for foreign partners, Rusal said.
During a recent visit to the West African country, a Rus Al delegation assessed the country's raw material and energy potential, its energy and transport infrastructure, and entered into a dialog with the Cameroon authorities responsible for developing the natural resources sector and attracting foreign investments in the country.
Rusal and Cameroon's Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Technology Development have agreed to develop proposals for Rusal's s involvement in projects in the bauxite and alumina sector in Cameroon before December 1, 2011, the company said.
