UC RUSAL to halt ZALK in Ukraine on high energy costs

Reportedly, United Company RUSAL has announced to shut down Zaporozhye Alumina Complex in Ukraine by this May due to high energy costs.

According to the spokesman of UC RUSAL, the smelter in Ukraine has faced a loss in the past few years because of the high energy costs.

Meanwhile, the news center of Urals Mining and Metallurgical Company pointed out that ZAIK’s aluminum annual production dropped to 50,000 tonnes in 2009 from 112.8 thousand tonnes in 2008 moreover it decreased to 25,000 tonnes in 2010.
