The government of Guinea has given Russian aluminium giant Rusal the go ahead to continue alumina exports from Conakry, after a call for a temporary suspension due to alleged air pollution, a source close to Rusal said Wednesday.
Rusal has agreed to take extra care when loading its cargoes, by reducing its load rate and with the use of canvas covers over the cargoes to minimize the escape of dust particles.
There has been no disruption to exports.
Rusal's alumina refinery at Fria can produce 640,000 mt/year, nearly all of which is exported to Russia.
