Russian company says six kidnapped, driver killed in Nigeria

MOSCOW - Gunmen have killed a driver and kidnapped six people from a residential compound belonging to a Russian aluminium company, Russia Aluminum (RUSAL) said.

"This morning in Nigeria, in the southern part of Ikot Abasi town a group of militants attacked a residential community of UC (United Company) RUSAL's employees," a statement said.

"Six people have been kidnapped. The driver, who worked for ALSCON, was shot dead. The United Company is undertaking all possible measures to resolve the situation and free the hostages," it said.
