MOSCOW. April 17 - United Company RUSAL (UC RUSAL) increased aluminum production in the first quarter 2.5% year-on-year to 999,415 tonnes. Alumina production was flat and totaled 2.74 million tonnes in the first quarter, the company said in a press release. Bauxite production decreased by 8.6% and reached 4.128 million tonnes, which is due to temporary mining shortages in Guinea and at the Middle Timan bauxite deposit in the Komi Republic, the release says. Value-added casthouse products manufacturing increased by 12.5% and amounted to 48% of primary aluminum production; Foil production rose by 21.2%.
