MOSCOW - The RUSAL, SUAL and GLENCORE merger is complete, making United Company Rusal the world's largest aluminum and alumina producer. Canada's ALCAN drops to second spot.
UC Rusal has a portfolio including four bauxite mines, 10 alumina refineries, 14 aluminum smelters and three foil mills. Annual production capacity is approximately 4 million t of aluminum and 11 million t of alumina. The new company will have pro forma sales of US$12 billion annually. Its more than 100,000 employees live and work in 17 countries across five continents.
The non-executive chairman Victor Vekselberg was previously chairman of Sual. The company will be led by CEO Alexander Bulygin who was previously CEO of Rusal.
