Russian producer RusAl said it is transferring its cans division to EN+, the aluminium and power holding company for Oleg Deripaska's Basic Element investment vehicle.
The move is part of the book-clearing exercise being undertaken prior to the merger with fellow Russian producer SUAL and the aluminium interests of Swiss trade house Glencore. RusAl last month announced the transfer of its extrusion business to another part of the Basic Element group.
The cans operations are represented by ROSTAR, which operates two can facilities and the Dmitrov Metallurgical plant. It holds a 50% share of Russia's domestic market, according to RusAl.
