According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global alumina production was 34.61 million tons in the second quarter of 2023, up by 3.7% compared to the previous quarter and down by 2.7% from the same quarter a year ago. Among them, China’s production accounted for 20.47 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 6.5% and a year-on-year drop of 0.09%.
In June alone, global alumina output was down by 4.8% month on month and by 4.4% year on year to 11.3 million tons. Global alumina production amounted to approximately 67.99 million tons in the first half of this year, falling by 1.6% from the same period a year earlier.
