According to the International Aluminium Institute data, world primary aluminium production in July 2022 rose by 176,000 tonnes or 3.10 per cent month-on-month. From 5.672 million tonnes in June 2022, the world output escalated to 5.848 million tonnes in July. The average daily output in June 2022 was 189,100 tonnes, while the average daily production in July 2022 came in at 188,600 tonnes. The total production volume of primary aluminium in July 2021 was 5.730 million tonnes worldwide; thus, if considered on a year-on-year scale, the output grew by 118,000 tonnes or 2.06 per cent in July 2022.
China, as usual, produced the highest amount of aluminium, churning out 3.468 million tonnes in July 2022, a month-on-month rise of 112,000 tonnes or 3.34 per cent from 3.3356 million tonnes and a year-on-year gain of 141,000 tonnes or 4.23 per cent from 3.327 million tonnes. In the first seven months of 2022, China produced 23.171 million tonnes of primary aluminium in total.
Primary aluminium production in the Gulf Cooperation Council stood at 516,000 tonnes in July 2022 - 23,000 tonnes more than 493,000 tonnes in June 2022. On a monthly basis, the output climbed up by 18,000 tonnes from 498,000 tonnes.
Only Asia (ex-China) and Oceania saw a yearly drop in aluminium production in July 2022, with the former losing 2,000 tonnes and the latter 6,000 tonnes. In Asia, July primary aluminium production was 382,000 tonnes, while in Oceania 153,000 tonnes.
