According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global primary aluminum production reached 5.805 million tons in May this year, growing by 3.64% compared to the preceding month and also rising by 0.43% from the same month a year ago, hitting a record high.
Among them, China’s production was estimated at 3.42 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 3.9% and a year-on-year growth of 1.9%. The bounce in the output from China, other countries of Asia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries offset declines in most other regions.
In May, the average daily production of primary aluminum in the world was 187,300 tons, up by 0.32% month on month, said the IAI.
