According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global primary aluminum production totaled around 5.49 million tons in August, growing by 2.4% compared to the same month a year ago.
Miles Prosser, the secretary general of IAI, said that global aluminum demand was expected to slide 5.4% year on year in 2020, mainly due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
However, the medium-term demand was also foreseen to grow strongly, which will be driven by the government’s investment in some industries such as infrastructure, construction, automobile, and so forth.
