Norsk Hydro ASA, a Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Golar Power last Wednesday (July 22) to replace most of the fuel oil it is currently used at Alunorte alumina refinery in Brazil with natural gas, which is more environmentally friendly.

Under the MoU, it was expected that the supply facility of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be available in Barcarena in 2022, and Hydro will adjust the calcination process and part of the steam production at Alunorte refinery to meet the conversion of the production process.
