Norsk Hydro, a Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company, said yesterday (April 8th) that some of its aluminum extrusion production facilities in Southern Europe resumed production this week.
However, the coronavirus epidemic continued to have a serious impact on the global economy and aluminum demand, which will result in shutdown at many hydropower plants and production cuts, but some power plants were reopening in order to meet customers’ needs.
Norsk Hydro also said its 2,100 employees were temporarily laid off.
