Guyana, the fifth largest bauxite producer in Latin America, exported a total of around 5.56 million tons of bauxite during the period from 2017 to 2019.
Among them, the exports in 2017 were around 1.64 million tons; those in 2018 had a year-on-year increase of 18.9% to 1.95 million tons; those in 2019 had a year-on-year hike of 1.03% to 1.97 million tons. The export volume was expected to go up by 11.17% in 2020, reaching around 2.2 million tons.
Gold and bauxite/alumina are Guyana’s second and third largest export products, accounting for a quarter of the country's GDP.
Guyana’s bauxite was mainly exported to the US, Australia, France, Austria, Canada, Ecuador, China, and so on.
