Aluminium Bahrain said Sunday that its Q2 production rose 21% from a year earlier and that CEO Tim Murray was being replaced.

Production rose to 305,727 mt, Alba said in an emailed statement. Ali al Baqali will lead Alba as acting CEO, effective August 1, the company said.
Alba is set to become the world's largest aluminum smelter with the addition of Potline 6 in the next few weeks. The expansion is 96% complete, it said.
Alba started out as a 120,000 mt smelter in 1971, and by 2018 output was over 1 million mt. The line 6 expansion project is expected to increase its total production capacity by 540,000 mt to 1.5 million mt this year.
