New Delhi, July 29 (KNN) The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has welcomed the move of GST Council to lower the tax rate of electric vehicles (EVs) and their chargers or charging stations.
Secretary General of CAIT, Praveen Khandelwal said such a move of the GST Council will certainly strengthen the promotion of greater usage of electric vehicles which is prime agenda of the Government to reduce pollution.
Even hiring of Electric buses is exempted from GST. This announcement was also lauded by CAIT.
Khandelwal said that following the idea behind reducing GST on EVs, it is also necessary that to encourage affordable housing, tax rate on construction related materials like Cement, Marble, Paint, Building Hardware, Electrical Fittings should also be reduced.
He said the tax rate of auto parts & aluminum utensils should also be reduced as these are the items used by common man.
He also said that simplification of various return forms under GST is need of the hour to bring more and more people under tax net.
