Jamaica Gleaner reported that Noranda Bauxite's parent company, the Florida-based New Day Aluminium Holdings LLC has announced the acquisition of a specialty mineral processing plant in Hull, United Kingdom. A press release from New Day Aluminium said its acquisition of Imerys Fuse Minerals Hull Ltd, the first such acquisition in the United Kingdom, will be used to complement its existing fused alumina business in LaBathie, France.
Imerys Fused Minerals Hull Ltd, which will renamed NICHE Fused Magnesia Limited, operates facilities producing a number of specialty magnesia products used in the electrical, friction, ceramic, automotive and refractory industries.
Mr David D'Addario, CEO of New Day, said of the acquisition that “We are excited at the opportunity to acquire the Hull business, which is consistent with our strategy to further expand our product portfolio and geographical footprint. This business is also an excellent fit for the expansion of our newly-branded NICHE specialty products business while providing a growing European platform for New Day.”
