Export of bauxite ore and its concentrates (aluminum) during January to June 2013 hit 24.4 million tons, up 23.8 percent compared to the same period last year, based on data from the Directorate of Foreign Trade Ministry of Commerce. Export value of vessel freight on board (FOB) also rose 48.4 percent to US$ 531 million from US$ 357.7 million in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) bauxite production was noted at 24.2 million tons during the first half of 2013. The main producer of bauxite ore, PT Fajar Mentaya Abadi, a company which owns mines in East Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, produced 3.82 million tons bauxite ore during January-June 2013. The second largest production is PT Harita Prima Abadi Mineral with total production as many as 3.46 million tons. Harita Prima is a subsidiary of PT Cita Mineral Investindo Tbk (CITA), a company belong to Harita Buisiness Group, which has mines in Kendawangan, West Kalimantan.
