S?o Paulo-based aluminum extrusion producer Sapa Aluminium Brasil forecasts moderate growth for the Brazilian market this year, CFO Roberto Silva told BNamericas.
"The extruded aluminum market is heavily influenced by investments in local economies. Sapa Aluminum forecasts for this year moderate growth for the Brazilian market of around 7-8%. Meanwhile, Argentina is expected to maintain the same volume as seen last year, or zero growth," Silva said.
Hydro Alumínio Acro was renamed Sapa Aluminium Brasil after Norway's Norsk Hydro and Orkla decided to combine their aluminum extrusion operations to create Sapa, a 50/50 JV.
"Sapa is the only global aluminum extrusion company operating in South America. But the region's share in the company's overall sales is small. Our two plants and five extrusion presses are part of a group consisting of 100 plants and 190 extrusion machines operating in Europe, North America and Asia."
"However, we're among the top five extrusion players in Brazil and Argentina, and Sapa currently own a 7% share of Brazil's aluminum extrusion market," the CFO added.
