ABAL also projects a 1,459 thousand ton production of primary aluminum for 2012, an additional 18.6 thousand tons over the total produced in 2011. According to the association, this 1.3% growth does not refer to an increase to the Brazilian productive capacity but instead a gradual recovery of volumes that have undergone impairment from the plants’ operational adjustments.
