It is reported that Benteler Aluminium Systems Michigan Inc is looking to add more jobs in Holland.
The Holland plant, 365 W. 24th St has filed an application for tax abatement which could create 67 new jobs and retain the 138 existing jobs at the company. The abatement is for about USD 7.2 million and will be voted on at the September 7 Holland City Council meeting.
Ms Elena Sgroia finance manager at Benteler said “We are in the middle of launching several new programs. It will generate more jobs. We are in the process of launching bumpers for the Nissan Pathfinder. That is the main driver for our business.”
She said that most jobs will be operators on the factory line.
Ms Sgroia said the company is working on bumpers for about a dozen other vehicle models and also working on structural components like windshield frames for several vehicles.
She said “We are really busy compared to where we were a couple of years ago. When the automotive market crashed, we were down to about nothing, like a lot of companies were. We were up for sale. We were fortunate to be purchased by a worldwide company like Benteler.”
Ms Sgroia said “We are an aluminum division of Benteler Aluminium systems. We are their only plant in the US. She said the plant averages 500,000 bumpers manufactured per year which is expected to double to 1 million in 2012 and 2 million in 2013.”
The plant was sold to Benteler in 2010.
