PT Aneka Tambang (ANTM.JK) Monday commenced construction of a $450 million chemical grade alumina project in West Kalimantan province, the company said.
"The construction is expected to take 32 months," Antam said.
The state-owned company said it expects the facility to start producing 300,000 tons of chemical grade alumina a year by January, which it will export to Japan.
Antam holds an 80% stake in the project and Showa Denko K.K.(4004.TO) the remaining 20%.
Antam said it expects the project to generate $200 million revenue a year.
